Experience:

Applicants should be experienced teaching hip-hop, preschool dance and/or creative movement classes in a professional studio setting.

Seeking qualified dance educators to teach dance classes for our 2024-2025 dance year. Must be comfortable with teaching ages 3 to adult or within this range. You must be able to adapt to a fast paced and growing environment. We are looking for someone who is high energy, loves small children, and is in-the-know with the preschool segment of dancers as well as pre-teens. It is also essential that you have a passion for their growth and development as our program incorporates aspects of leadership.

The ideal person is emotionally intelligent, innovative, committed, punctual, creative, positive, organized, dependable, and experienced with managing a group of small children. Additionally, instructs classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes youth development and member engagement in accordance with our studio guidelines and safe practices.

Qualifications:

  • Conflict resolution skills

  • Reliable transportation
  • Demonstration of technical understanding of genre you are applying to
  • Showcase the capacity to teach in a way students can understand.
  • Demonstrate an ability to produce engaging teaching lessons.
  • At least 2-5 years of structured teaching experience

Role/ Responsibilities:

  • Delivering the best possible age-appropriate skills, content, and materials to students (including movement and technique, terminology, music, choreography, and historical influences) in weekly dance class(es) on the day(s) and time(s) agreed upon by dance teacher and studio Director.
  • Must be willing to get a teaching certification (type will depend on Director. Company pays for this)
  • Attend ALL mandatory staff meetings (all meetings are paid meetings)
  • Meeting deadlines set by Director.
  • Create and distribute educational content (class notes, lesson plans, evaluation reports, etc.)
  • Offering stagehand/teaching services for all showcases, community performances, and open house/marketing opportunities when necessary
  • Instruct a variety of ages and levels.
  • Share the joy of dance with each and every student by bringing a high level of energy and passion into the classroom.
  • Plan class content in conjunction with the studio’s curriculum. Select appropriate music to create progressions that reinforce technical foundation.
  • Foster confidence and accountability in all our students, intensive and recreational.
  • Have the ability to demonstrate movement clearly and articulate instructions verbally.
  • Ability to observe and give effective feedback to promote proper execution of movement.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, structured environment in which students can thrive.
  • Instructors work closely with staff in many facets of the studio’s operation and must possess good communication and cooperative skills.
  • Instructors are expected to work independently as a classroom leader and participate in the collaborative work that comprise.
  • Must sign at least a 1-2 year and/or 1-2 season contract.
